Liz Maxfield’s work is about connecting with human emotions and exploring what that looks like on paper and canvas. She is drawn to the intricate and beautiful anatomy of the body through the nude model and finding the immediacy of the figure through gesture drawings.
“I love the exploration of raw human feelings often found through gesture drawings and work towards transferring that rawness to my paintings.”
Liz graduated from the UW School of Art in Seattle, in 2002 and currently lives and works on Vashon Island.
Meet the artist at the next Vashon Friday Artwork and learn more about the upcoming Figure Drawing Circle guided by Liz.
